Autumn Vase
10th
October, 2009
Net Stableford (+a bit of Gross)

A welcome sight, 4 hours 23 minutes after GolfBag's start....
Preliminary Musings
or "thoughts fresh(?) from the cocktail"
Winner of the Autumn Vase for the best all comers Stableford
score was Patrice Langlet (3 series Men) with
47!
The Peacocks walk off with all sorts of prizes:
Julie wins (1st Series) Ladies' "Brut" (Young Dimitri Ansart won the
Men's)
Alan grabs the Men's 1S Net with 41 points
Sue takes the Ladies' 1st series Net (Julie having got
the brut), just beating GolfBag's playing partner
Caroline Icart ,
President Pam, and Jill.
Jenny Pratt came 3rd in the 2S Ladies', a stroke ahead of
Joan
and a couple ahead of Monica.
Our Second Series Men did nothing of note, but were faced with
strong opposition - the first 5 players were home in Par or better!
And the 3rd series Men did well - John McCullum did well to come
2nd 3rd Series prize with 42 point (even better if he'd stayed...) but that left
the field open to Jonathan Hibbs to sneak in with a 6th place par, just pipping
Peter Hall, also par, on the back nine.
GolfBag and playing partner
Karine RUPE-GUIADER won the nearest
the pin on the 9th (2.5 and 2.97m distant respectively). Both got their birdies!
Woo hoo!
Longest Drive on the 6th: Ludovic Berry (no relation) got it for
the Men, but Caroline ICART's drive past the right hand bunker got beaten a
couple of holes later by Raphaëlle Laverhne.
Golfbag would like sincerely to apologise to all who had start
times after 12.04pm for the state of the course(and to his
patient playing partners !). While he strongly denies being
responsible for the mess in the rough, attributable solely to the local wildlife
(e.g. wild boar), the digging up of the fairways, notably on the 2nd half,
could well have been him. (Anyone who gets 23 net/17 brut cannot do so without some
collateral damage!!) Sorree.

(And thanks to President Pam and her acolytes (Sue, Simon...)
for organising it all...including the weather on the day!)
